Abstract

Radiofrequency (RF) thermocoagulation of the trigeminal ganglion is an established minimally invasive treatment for medically refractory trigeminal neuralgia. However, the use of monopolar RF energy in patients with permanent cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) raises concerns regarding electromagnetic interference (EMI), particularly in pacemaker-dependent patients. We     report the successful performance of trigeminal ganglion radiofrequency ablation in a patient with a dual-chamber MRI-conditional pacemaker using a multidisciplinary peri-procedural device management strategy.
