Author Guidelines

Welcome to the official journal of Indian society of Anaesthesiologists Kerala state branch – The Anaesthesiologist. We invite authors to submit original research articles, review articles, case reports, case series, brief communications, infographics,   technical notes, and letters to the editor related to anaesthesia and perioperative medicine. Please carefully follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth submission process. The journal does not charge for submission, processing or publication of manuscripts and even for colour reproduction of photographs.

Manuscript Categories
Original Research Articles: Should present novel research finding in anaesthesia, critical care, or pain management (3000-5000 words, up to 30 references).Maximum of 5 -6 figures, tables, charts will be allowed.
Review Articles: Comprehensive overviews of current topics (4000-6000 words, up to 50 references). Maximum of 4-5 figures, tables, charts will be allowed.
Case Reports/ Case series: Unique clinical cases with educational value (1000-1500 words, up to 10 references).Maximum of 2 -3 figures, tables, charts will be allowed.
Technical Notes: Descriptions of new techniques or modifications to existing procedures (1000-2000 words, up to 15 references). Maximum of 2 -3 figures, tables, charts will be allowed.
Letters to the Editor: Comments on previously published articles, short reports on important findings or any topic of interest to the anaesthesia fraternity  (500-1000 words, up to 5 references). Maximum of 2 -3 figures, tables, charts will be allowed.
Infographics : On a drug, equipment or a standard clinical practice / protocol in anaesthesia.

Manuscript Preparation
Title Page: Should include the title, author names, affiliations, corresponding author’s contact details, and acknowledgments.
Abstract: A structured abstract (for original research) or an unstructured abstract (for other articles) not exceeding 250 words.
Keywords: 3-6 keywords should be provided.
Main Text: Should follow IMRAD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion) for research articles.
References: Should be formatted in Vancouver style.
Figures and Tables: Each should be numbered and accompanied by a legend. Figures should be submitted in high-resolution formats (JPEG, TIFF, or PNG).

Submission Preparation Checklist

  • All manuscripts must be submitted via the journal's online submission system at [Journal Submission Portal].
  • Submissions must be in Microsoft Word format, with double-spaced text and numbered pages.
  • All authors must disclose any conflicts of interest and provide an authorship declaration.
