Abstract

Ultrasound scans are increasingly used in Anaesthesia practice for different purposes like central venous access, peripheral nerve blocks, truncal plane blocks, airway assessment and confirmation of endotracheal intubation in obese patients and so on. Although  usage of ultrasound  seems to be benign and very safe, it has some potential  complication which we should be aware of. The aim of this descriptive review is to make readers  aware of the complications of ultrasound usage  and measures to prevent them to a certain extent. The users of ultrasound  should  look in to the safe limits of thermal index to minimise  the thermal harm.
